Selecting an appropriate guard column is essential for extending the lifetime of an analytical column. The SunGuard series is a cartridge-type guard column developed for universal use with both our proprietary column brands—such as SunBridge and SunShell—as well as HPLC columns from other manufacturers. For standard analytical columns with an inner diameter of 4.6 mm, SunGuard is recommended, offering sufficient capacity to ensure reliable column protection. For narrow-bore columns (2.1–3.0 mm i.d.) and columns packed with high-efficiency silica, such as core-shell particles, SunGuard Ultra is recommended. It is designed with a minimized internal volume to maintain chromatographic performance. In addition, SunGuard Prep is available for preparative columns with inner diameters of 10–20 mm.

    Accessories

The coupler is used to connect an analytical column and a guard column. It is supplied with ferrules and nuts and is included as a standard component in the SunGuard Ultra Starter Kit. The ferrules are high-pressure rated. Additional ferrules are available separately in packs of 10. The Delay Column for PFAS is installed immediately downstream of the pump in PFAS LC–MS analysis to retard instrument-derived PFAS background signals, thereby achieving temporal separation from the analytes of interest.
